The all-new Alpinestars Honda SM5 Helmet in Gloss White / Blue / Red is meticulously designed for MX riders seeking superior protection and comfort. This lightweight helmet features a thermo-injected shell crafted from a special polymer blend, engineered to balance impact protection with minimal weight. The inner liner is constructed from a 7-piece expanded polystyrene (EPS) system with five different densities, strategically placed for optimal impact absorption.
The outer shell is made from advanced impact-resistant thermoplastic, available in three anatomical sizes, and paired with three individual EPS liner sizes. This combination ensures six unique sizes for an ideal fit and maximum protection. The helmet includes a raised, padded area designed to reduce force transmission to the collarbone, and a patented visor release system that ensures the visor detaches with a precise amount of force regardless of the impact angle.
Improvements in the medium, large, XL, and 2XL sizes have increased the lower shell volume by approximately 3%, making the helmet easier to don and remove. This increase in volume also enhances impact management performance, achieving a 44% improvement over the regular-speed threshold. For the new ECE 22.06 standard, the SM5 demonstrates a 44% better regular-speed impact rating, a 32% better low-speed score, and a 31% better high-speed linear impact score compared to previous standards.
The multi-density inner liner ensures proper density placement for enhanced impact absorption. The redesigned chin bar features a sculpted base area to avoid collarbone contact, supplemented by a softer EPS liner extending beyond the shell and covered by a flexible rubber compound to reduce collarbone injury risk. The helmet’s patented visor release system guarantees the visor detaches correctly upon impact.
Ventilation is maximized through multi-air inlets and exhaust ports, with the visor designed to direct air into these ports for improved airflow. Additional features include the ERS Emergency Release System cheek pads and hydration hose routing loops for easy hydration system integration.
Both the inner and outer surfaces of the helmet are engineered to mitigate the effects of oblique impacts. Alpinestars’ proprietary low-friction technology on the inner surface of the EPS liner helps counter rotational impact forces. For the new ECE 22.06 standard, which now includes rotational oblique impact ratings, the SM5 scores 70% under the new regulation.

Royal Mail deliveries are sent by Royal Mail 48 so will normally arrive within a maximum of 2-3 working days. DHL deliveries are usually made within 48 hours but may be longer for remote areas. Express shipping is usually the next working day except for remote areas. If your item has not arrived within 5 working days on either service then please contact us by email hello@lagunadirect.co.uk .
All orders placed up until 9.00am are dispatched the same working day. Any order placed after 9.00am may not be dispatched until the next working day.
Returns & refunds:
Your right to cancel and return begins from when you place the order and ends 30 working days from when you received the goods. If you wish to cancel or return your order you must inform us by email at hello@lagunadirect.co.uk within this time frame. The buyer is responsible for paying the return postage and ensuring the goods are received back by us in as new condition. If you receive a faulty or broken item you will be offered either a choice of a refund or replacement. Any return postage costs if an item is faulty or broken will be paid by lagunadirect.co.uk
